Fumari Shisha - Island Papaya Flavor Review

Fumari Shisha - Island Papaya

Fumari Island Papaya Shisha Flavor

This tasty shisha flavor is fresh, fruity, and flavorful. The shisha is on the expensive side, a 100g pouch on Fumari’s website is $9.00. The packaging for this shisha very stylish, coming in a compact vinyl pouch with a transparent shisha window which allows you to gauge the shisha’s freshness. After we opened the resealable pouch, we noticed the shisha had a very sweet and delicious scent. We packed a bowl and gave it a spin.
This shisha burns very slow. The flavor is very fresh tasting, just like all of Fumari’s other shisha flavors. All of the reviewers noted the “refreshing” qualities that the smoke possessed. With an almost minty aftertaste this shisha is a really pleasure to smoke. The flavor could have been a little bit more fruity, which is one of the main downsides of this shisha. The slow burn and refreshing flavor definitely make this shisha worth it’s hefty price tag.

Pros:

  • Convenient resealable pouch
  • Refreshing flavor
  • Interesting and unique aftertaste
  • Very long lasting and slow burning

Cons:

  • Expensive ($9 for a 100g pouch)
  • Lacked the deep fruit flavor that other shishas in the expensive price range like Al Fakher Gold possess.
  • The refreshing qualities overpowered the fruit flavors a little much

Overall, this shisha is definatly worth the money. Any hookah lover should have some Fumari in their collection, however, we feel that Fumari does a better job at other flavors like their Lemon Mint, which benefit greatly from Fumari’s trademark fresh flavor. We give this shisha a 3.5 out of 5.

Potion - Turkish Delight

Potion- Turkish Delight
Potion is a refreshing new shisha product in the community.  The box is a classy square tin that contains 100 grams.  Their slogan is “The world’s smoothest shisha for your shisha,” which is a nice reference to the middle eastern term for the hookah and tobacco that goes with it.  The shisha is a medium cut that is very moist which attributes to its high heat requirment.  The name doesn’t really tell you what to expect from the flavor.  It is sort of a mosh posh of fruit punch flavors some exotic and some standards.  It comes through as a pretty basic  fruit punch flavor that is well portrayed by the shisha.  The smoke is thick but light in nature.  Overall this was a decent length and very enjoyable smoking session it required multiple quick light coals to utilize all of the shisha.
Pros:
  • Light sweet flavored smoke
  • Long lasting bowls make it a reasonable value
  • Nice high quality packaging
Cons:
  •   Requires lots of heat, which some quick lights can’t deliver

Al Waha - Double Apple Shisha

Al Waha - Double Apple
Al Waha’s Apple shisha is finely cut with an average to-low moistness.  The shisha smelled like ripe fruit, although not very apple-y.  The shisha lit very quickly and tasted mildy of fruit.  It really doesn’t live up to the apple flavor that is touted on the box.  The flavor of the smoke is sweet and fruity but lacks the stong apple flavor that one would expect from well… an apple shisha.
Unfortunatley the fruit flavor didn’t last as long as we would have liked and soon turned into a less than pleasant smokey flavor.  This is partially due to the fact that this shisha isn’t as moist as most others and thus burns quicker and can turn harsh if the heat levels from the hookah coals aren’t kept in check.
This shisha is just not on par with other Double Apple flavors.  Although very inexpensive, we just can’t say it’s worth its low price tag.  And after being accustomed to Al Fakher Gold, this shisha really kept us wanting.  With a lack of true apple flavor and short-lived bowls, the only flavour left in our mouths after smoking were dissapointment.
Pros:
  • Low Priced “Cheap Shisha on a budget”
Cons:
  • Below-average moistness
  • If they named it Double Apple should it taste like… Apple?
  • Short-lived vagueley fruity-sweet bowls.
In the end we reccomend that you save your cash for a better quality shisha and give this shisha a score of 1.5/5.

Al Fakher Gold - Eskandarani Apple Shisha Review

Al Fakher Gold - Eskandarani Apple

Al Fakher Eskandarani Apple Shisha

As we opened this 250 gram box of Al Fakher Gold Eskandranai Apple Shisha, we saw the nice plasic resealable tub. The flavour (as they spell it) was strong and extremely pleasant. We lit two natural olive wood coal fingers, giving the Al Fakher the necessary heat to give an excellent smoke.

The session began with fluffy white smoke which was pleasing to all people in the room. The shisha is very moist giving it a high heat tolerance, which prevents it from becoming harsh at high coal temperatures. The rich smoke and robust flavor makes this shisha stand out. Al Fakher has continued to amaze us with its top-quality products and outstanding flavor. The Al Fakher Gold Line, while expensive, is a must have for any Hookah connesiur.

Pros:

  • Thick, Flavorful Smoke
  • Moist heat-resistant shisha
  • Conveniant plastic case
  • Delicious flavor

Con:

  • Expensive, truely the creme-de-la-creme

Layalina - Mango

Layalina, picture from hookahcompany.com
Layalina comes in the standard shisha package, a small box with plastic inside that always seems different than the last. How ever strange the different bags are the packaging is quite effective at keeping the shisha nice and moist. Layalina tobacco has a thick texture the molasses is very thick, and more often than not very red! Watch out, you could stain your clothes! Fragrance, is pretty strong it always smells like a very sharp smell of what it is supposed to be, in this case Mango. The Shisha has quite a few stems unfortuneatly, but a good smoke could still be had even with stems.

The Smoke came after only a few pulls. The smoke was very nice for the price of this shisha, very white and puffy, but some greyish smoke seemed to mix with the white and pollute it. (Perhaps it was the light.) The smoke was pretty good overall, but it was not entirely smooth. It tickled a little going down, and made my tongue tingle. A very distinct mango taste was present, but it was slightly smokey, I checked the coals and bowl but it was set up properly. Layalina is an unwashed shisha, so it is expected not to be silky smooth like washed shisha. The smoke lasted a good hour and fifteen minutes, but it lost its flavor around the hour mark, the smokey flavor becomes more apparent as it cooks.  A pretty good buzz.

Overall this shisha was decent and definatly something I might keep a 50g pack of handy. But, its semi-smokey flavor and off colored smoke bring it down a little. The tongue tingling was a refreshing attribute that made my mouth feel clean. Overall I give this shisha a 3 out of 5 Rings, its definatly worth a try and perhaps even keeping in stock.

Pros:

  • Clean Tingle
  • Accurate Taste

Cons:

  • Little harsh/tickly
  • Lots of stems
  • Smokey flavor

Al Fakher - Grape

Al Fakher - Grape
Al Fakher - Grape, From Hookah Company
Al Fakher - Grape comes in a nice little box, and a nice plastic wraped tub inside. The smell on this one leaks through the very box, and the smell is incredible. Its like a very clean grape jelly smell, and it just hangs in the air after its been sitting out. I lit the coal with my mouth watering, I expected alot from this shisha. I was not dissapointed, this shisha was as delicious as it smelled! An awsome grape flavor filled my mouth pull after pull, this was by far the best grape flavor I have ever had. The smoke was not quite perfect but whiteish clouds filled the air and stayed for a good while. It was silky smooth no harshness at all! I give this shisha 4.5 rings out of 5 rings, because despite its un perfect smoke quality, it smelled and tasted amazing and was silky smooth, all that hookah is known for!
Pros:
  • Delicious flavor
  • Delicous Smell
  • Nice Packaging
  • Very Moist
Cons:
  • Less than perfect smoke (Romman/Starbuzz smoke)

Nakhla - Peach

Nakhla - Peach
The packaging on this shisha was pretty nice as well, like the other Nakhla shisha. When I opened the package the smell was pretty strong, not quite a peach, but more like a peach bud candy. The flavor once lit was quite strong, and very sweet. It did not however taste much like a peach, more like some really sweet fruit. After a while of smoking this flavor a couple of my friends and I felt a little queasy, the flavor became a sickly sort of sweet. The shisha itself was low quality, unevenly cut and lots of stems. The smoke gave a good buzz from being unwashed, but the quality was low. The smoke was a little thicker than previous Nakhla smoke, but still nothing special. I was impressed by the strong flavor, but am sorry to say it’s one of those things thats just not for me. I would give this shisha 2.5 rings out of 5 rings.
Pros:
  • Good Buzz
  • Nice Packaging
  • Strong Flavor
Cons:
  • Poor Quality
  • Poor Smoke
  • Burns Quickly

Nakhla - Sweet Melon

Nakhla - Sweet Melon
After the first shisha I tried by Nakhla I did not expect much from this one, but I was surprised by its flavor. The packaging was nice as usual (Metallic Lined bag inside). The smell of this one really hit me when I opened the inner bag, it was a very strong smell. It smelled like just like a sweet melon! The shisha itself was again low quality, uneven cut and lots of stems. I lit the coal with a higher expectation than before, I didn’t have to wait very long as it burned at the same speed as the last. The flavor was truly excellent for a shisha of this quality. It had a very strong melon flavor that drowned out the smoke flavor entirely. The smoke was quality was the same was the Nakhla - Mixed fruit, but the flavor far surpassed it. The clouds hung in the air for a short time and was still an off white grey. It was on the harsher side as far as most shisha goes. The buzz was pretty strong, as it was an unwashed shisha.
Though the smoke quality and the shisha quality was low, the flavor was excellent! I give this shisha 3 rings out of 5 rings, because the flavor really surpasses expectations.
Pros:
  • Great Flavor!
  • Nice Packaging
  • Good Buzz
  • Price
Cons:
  • Poor Quality
  • Discolored Smoke
  • Burns Quickly

Nakhla - Mixed Fruit

Nakhla - Mixed Fruit

The packaging of this shisha was pretty good for its low price, as an unwashed shisha I expected less. Once the box is open a nicely sealed metallic lined packaging with a nice little design on it was a surprise. The shisha was quite moist, but the smell didn’t really smell like fruit, just something sweet. The quality of the tobacco itself was on the low side, it was unevenly cut and there were many stems. As I lit the coal I didn’t expect too much from it.

As it turns out I miss judged this shisha at first, the flavor was quite decent. It was more like a smokey fruit punch than mixed fruit, but it was nothing like a high quality shisha. Though the flavor of the shisha was pleasent and quite strong, it was not very distinct. I could taste smoke in the background of the flavor unlike Romman Shisha. The smoke was pretty harsh on a shisha standpoint, as shisha is known for its vivid flavor and silky smoothness. The smoke quality was alright, but it was more of a grey than white like the smoke found in higher quality shisha. Clouds hung in the air for a decent amount of time, but I was dissapointed in the smoke. There was a good buzz, as it is an unwashed shisha. It burned pretty quickly, but for the price you can buy alot more of it. Overall I would give this shisha 2 rings out of 5 rings, as it is a cheaper, lower quality shisha.

Pros:

  • Nice Packaging
  • Price
  • Good Buzz

Cons:

  • Discolored Smoke
  • Burns Fast
  • Low Quality (Stems, Uneven Cut, Poor Flavor)

El Basha Jasmine Flavor Shisha Tobacco Review

El Basha Jasmine Flavor Shisha
When we lit the coal, we were very glad that the flavor of the shisha matched its delicious scent. It is light, sweet, and mild. This is definatly one of the best shishas to relax with after a long day. We thoroughly enjoyed its palate, smoke thickness, and scent. Unlike many other shishas, this one doesn’t leave an unpleasant smell in the room, and matched the scent of sweet jasmine incense after the bowl was finished.
While this shisha really pleased us because of its flavor, scent, and deviation from the norm, it might not be for everybody. For those who do not enjoy herbal flavored shisha, this definatly won’t be for you. This flavor does not have “mass appeal”, a trait found in flavors such as double apple. Either way, this is one of our favorite shisha flavors, and you would be mistaken to pass this up next time you see it in a shisha shop, or online.
Pros:
  • Very sweet scent.
  • Extremely mild, yet distinct flavor.
  • Unique flavor deviates from the typical fruit blend found in most shishas.

Cons:

  • Flavor might not be strong enough for those with a weak pallet.

Overall I give this Shisha a 4.5 out of 5 rings. This shisha is near perfect in its flavor, smell, and smoke. The only downfall was that this shisha might not be strong enough for those who don’t have refined palettes.

This jasmine shisha flavor, from El Basha, owned by Nakhla, when opened, reveals deep brown, red, long-cut, tobacco. After removing the shisha from its plastic container, we were suprised at its subtlely sweet smell. Unlike most shisha flavors, this El Basha Jasmine’s scent is not overpowering. It is very light and flowery.

Al Waha - Orange Cream

Al waha - Orange Cream
The package has a nice display of some Oranges and Vanilla Ice Cream. I opened the package and instantly smelled a strong orange smell. The aroma was very fresh and like a fresh orange, you couldn’t smell the vanilla in its shisha form. The shisha was very moist, completely covered in molassas pretty standard for Al Waha. It has a nice texture and is cut pretty thin, there were no stems in this particular package.
Once the coal was on the smoke began flowing after a pull or two. It was very smooth and clean tasting, and there was no unpleasent after taste. The flavor however in smoke form is quite weak, there is still clearly an orange flavor with a hint of vanilla. A glass of water before hand to clense the pallete works well. The smoke was quite thin, even when not inhaled. With no huge clouds or smoke rings it was disappointing. A small buzz came after a whole bowl, common for washed tobacco. This flavor was satisfactory, I would only recommend it if you wanted to try a new flavor or you smoke lightly.
Pros:
  • Unique Flavor
  • Very Smooth
Cons:
  • Weak Flavor
  • Poor Quality Smoke
  • Burns Quickly
I give this 2.5 out of 5 rings, because its smoke quality was poor and weak flavor.

Al Waha Bounty - Coconut Flavored Shisha Review

This dark colored shisha is extremely moist. After unwrapping the outer plastic layer we were greeted with a small, cellophane wrapped and very wet mass of coconut smelling shisha. We packed it into a bowl and began to smoke.

The flavor of the smoke was clearly coconut. However, it had an odd, overpowering sweetness which made this shisha less pleasant than it could have been. This shisha lasted quite long due to the fact that it is so moist, and it also retained its flavor throuought the bowl. The smell of the smoke was pleasant aswell, but once again, due to the pungant smell of the shisha, the scent is hard to bear for extended periods of time.

The flavor of this shisha reminded me of the coconut flavored dum dums (lollypops). It was very, very, sweet tasting. I think that this flavor would go really well with a Sex on the Beach flavored shisha, pineapple flavored shisha, or possibly a lime or lemon flavored shisha.

Pros:

  • Very sweet scent.
  • Full coconut flavor
  • Moist, long lasting, molasses.

Cons:

  • Poorly wrapped shisha meant leakage.
  • Super-strong scent was a little too intense for me.
  • The flavor was too strong and candy-like.

Overall I give this Shisha a 3 out of 5 rings. Its real knock down was due to its overly sweet flavor and scent.

Heba Smoke Diffuser Review

heba.jpg

The idea behind a diffuser is to separate the smoke in the water to provide better filtration. The most common diffuser available and the one that we decided to review is the Heba Diffuser. It consists of 2 actual plastic diffusers and 2 gasket to connect to your stem. They can be used together or separately. For my first test I was using a MYA Acrylic hookah which did not have a large enough opening in the top of the base to accommodate both pieces of the diffuser, so I just used the smaller piece. This worked extremely well. It took the hookah from large bubbles to tiny ones with just one part of the diffuser. I later used the bigger one on a different hookah with the same results. A great benefit is that it quiets the bubbling sound a bunch, so it is great for smoking while listening to music or watching TV. It also gives a more smooth and even pull and from the hit. I have no way of testing the actual smoke filtration through the water, but based on the increased surface area of the smoke, I would assume that it cools and filters more efficiently.

Pros:

  • Quieter smoking hookah
  • Smoother pulling hookah
  • Two diffusers in one package

Cons:

  • Doesn’t fit hookahs with “balls” at the end of shaft”
  • Plastic Becomes Discolored after a while
  • Takes away that beautiful hookah sound

Overall I would recommend this accessory. I feel that it offers a nice ambiance while smoking the hookah due to the decreased noise. Just remember its on there or you will think you forgot to fill the base.

Ultimate Bowl Combo (Bowl + Screen + Wind Cover)

The Ultimate Bowl Combo comes in a plain, white cardboard box.  It is fully assembled right out of the box with the screen in place between bowl and wind cover.   The bowl is made of white clay, it is color glazed according to what you order. The Screen and the cover are both made from a shiney metal most likely aluminum.  The inside of the cover is not glazed or anodized like its outside, as it is a dull color rather than shiney.
Over all the appearance is quite stylish and compact.   The bowl is about a medium size it fits around 15 grams of shisha to the brim.  The screen fits perfectly atop the shisha.  Once you have a coal lit it the cover closes and latches. Be careful while smoking as the cover gets very hot and can burn you.  The cover functions exactly as described, it works just as well as all three items bought seperatly.
After using for a while the bowl begins to absorb smells and flavors of other shisha which defeats the purpose of glazing.
Pros:
  • Functions Perfect
  • Looks cool and compact
  • Price is half the price of all three seperatly
Cons:
  • Wind cover gets very hot
  • Inside of the cover is not protected from rust
  • Cover cannot be removed
  • Absorbs smells and flavors after about 2 months
Overall this was actually an excellent buy, some cons are particular to certain people. This deserves 4 out of 5 Rings. If the cover could be removed and put on another bowl it would have gotten 5.

El Nakhla Cherry Shisha Tobacco Review

el_nakhla_small.png

The scent of this cherry flavored shisha is quite pleasant, reminisce of sour cherry candy. After unwrapping this shisha, we noted it had a unique dark red and quite sticky color. This shisha is sure to make your hands red, so be sure to use the tongs when packing the bowl, however, the color does wash off with warm water and soap. After lighting the coal and setting it upon the bowl we began to draw. The shisha took a little while to light, due to its thick molasses, however, after half a minute the shisha was at full smoking capacity. The flavor of the smoke is equally as strong as the scent, however, it loses some of its sourness in the process. It comes out of the hose tasting much sweeter than it smells. The smoke is quite flavorful and fun to play with.

Next time I smoke this flavor I am going to attempt to put a mixture of cherry coke and water 1 part coke to 2 parts water, this should be interesting to see. I would also try mixing this with coke flavored shisha, to get an authentic cherry coke flavor.

I give this shisha a 2.5 out of 5 smoke rings.

Pros:

  • Sour scent was very pleasing.
  • The smoke flavor was fun to play with.
  • Pleasant smelling smoke.

Cons:

  • Very sticky and red shisha.
  • Artificial candy flavor, not too authentic.
  • Loses sour taste when lit.

Overall I give this Shisha a 2.5 out of 5 rings. Its real knock down was due to its artificial flavor and because it lost its pleasant sour flavor when it was lit.
